Other trailers: third trailer now released for A Quiet Place. Or Check out the second (Super Bowl) teaser here
Every so often, I ask my shrieking, yelling 5 year old to please use his quiet voice; you know, when we’re at a nunnery where everyone has taken a vow of silence, or the funeral of a Head of State, or a Royal Wedding.
He doesn’t have a quiet voice of course, we just like a joke in our house. So thank god he wasn’t picked to star in John Krasinski’s upcoming horror flick as the whole family would’ve been dead within 5 minutes.
“I’M BEING QUIET MUMMY!” he would most likely scream at top volume, as the monster approached and everyone shushed him as if their lives depended on it, which after watching this teaser, I’m guessing they do.
There isn’t a huge amount to go on here, and we have to wait until April 2018 for the movie itself, by which time Krasinski’s beard should’ve reached Dumbledore-like proportions.
But it looks as if the family living in this ramshackle farmhouse in the woods – Emily Blunt, her real-life husband John Krasinski, and their two children – live a life of silence. They even communicate with sign language. As the tagline tells us, “If they can’t hear you, they can’t hunt you”. But someone makes some noise, and all hell appears to break loose.
If the film is as tense as the trailer it’s going to be terrifying, though in the meantime it’s given me a great new tactic for getting my children to button it.
