They say redemption can be found in the most unusual places.
So says convicted killer Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), though you could say it too about many movie stars who find a second or third niche once they hit 50…
Yes, Gerard Butler is back doing what he (now) does best: white-knuckle thrillers, but in his own Scottish-American accent.
And he’s helped this time by Gaspare, a capable and mysterious criminal who Torrance was transporting on his passenger plane when it came down on a remote, rebel-held island.

Plane is out in the UK on 27 January but if you’re struggling to wait that long, scroll down to watch three film clips (and the trailer) to give you a flavour of what to expect.
Here’s the synopsis:
In the white-knuckle action movie PLANE, pilot Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island – only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI. In order to rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare’s help, and will learn there’s more to Gaspare than meets the eye.
Plane is directed by Jean-François Richet and stars Gerard Butler, Mike Colter, Yoson An, Daniella Pineda, Paul Ben-Victor, Remi Adeleke, Joey Slotnick, Evan Dane Taylor and Claro de los Reyes.
