Greenland 2: Migration trailer

19th October 2025 by Sarah

Five years on, the Garritys look for a new home, this time above ground.

Is it really five years since the world was all but destroyed by Comet Clarke in Greenland? I didn’t quite believe it, so I looked back at my review, and even if I hadn’t taken in the date at the top of the page the jokes about lockdown toilet roll hunts gave the game away.

A lot has happened in five years. It’s been so long I’ve had to re-learn the difference between a comet and an asteroid. And start trying to work out again if it was next door neighbour Deb that John was shagging before his wife Allison threw him out.

According to the trailer (below) it turns out quite a few people survived the fiery impact, and the years since, more than indicated at the end of the first film when the Greenland bunker made contact with a few other underground outposts around the world.

It’s chaos out there though, with multiple fragments of the original comet still burning into the atmosphere and radiation storms threatening everyone who ventures outside.

The Garritys don’t feel they can stay underground any longer, and ironically their best bet turns out to be to get to the Clarke crater – yes, the crater from the actual comet impact, where the crater walls look to be preventing those storms from forming. Unfortunately it is in southern France, and so begins the Garrity family’s trek to a place where they can live safely and help build a new civilisation.

Generally I’m not that fussed about films and TV series set after the Event. I like societal breakdown, scary TV reports, spinning newspapers. The years after tend to focus on telling us that we are the real monsters actually, often while some fan favourite is having their head eaten by a zombie. However I shall be making an exception with Greenland 2: Migration, as I really need to know how the story ends. I just hope the scene in the trailer – John Garrity telling his family he will take care of them til his last breath – isn’t an omen.

Along with Gerard Butler as John Garrity, Morena Baccarin is back as his wife Allison, and their son Nathan is now played by Roman Griffin Davis (himself no stranger to the end of the world, having also starred in eco-armageddon movie Silent Night). Ric Roman Waugh again directs.

Greenland 2: Migration is out on 9 January 2026.
