Amaurosis trailer: no longer unseen

25th April 2019 by Sarah Cartland Leave a Comment

A shocking family event, a strange new friend who may or may not be all he seems, and an isolated Lake District location – all the elements are there in indie thriller Amaurosis.

Previously released in the UK with the title The Unseen, this is an effective and eerie film about the effects of grief.

Gemma and Will lose their young son in a tragic accident – soon after Gemma starts to intermittently lose her sight, just as friendly stranger Paul starts to infiltrate her marriage to Will.

We see through Gemma’s eyes what she sees and doesn’t see, a trick that adds an extra layer of fear and disorientation to proceedings – in a movie that already plays an is he/isn’t he game with our danger instincts over Paul and her husband, and leaves us wondering if there could even be a supernatural explanation.

Amaurosis will be released online and in selected US cinemas on 17 May 2019. It stars Jasmine Hyde as Gemma, Richard Flood as Will and Simon Cotton as Paul. Check out my review.
