I literally had to fly in from outer space, edit out 8,274 “umms”, and battle some light drizzle and unseasonably mild temperatures to bring you episode 2 of GERRYSTORM, the podcast dedicated to the filmography of our Greatest Living Weatherman, I mean Scotsman – Gerard Butler.
This time I took on the ultimate challenge, aided by Tim Costa from the First Time Watchers movie podcast: GEOSTORM, Gerard Butler’s sci-fi epic which certainly set the international climate space station, if not the box office, alight when it was released in 2017. Scroll down to listen or download, or read the transcript – or check out all episodes here.
Gerry plays maverick scientist Jake Lawson, kicked off the Dutch Boy weather satellite system he actually built by his annoying younger brother Max. The satellites are supposed to keep the Earth safe from freak weather events, but they start malfunctioning, and it’s not an accident…

We examine the good (Jake’s romance in space), the bad (Max’s terrible haircut) and the ugly (Max’s terrible haircut).
Plus: disaster movie aficionado Tim on Roland Emmerich and pets-in-peril, the strange-but-true reason Sarah likes Gerard Butler, and what did happen to the Queen in The Day After Tomorrow?
Warning: very spoilery!
Gerrystorm is available on several platforms including Apple, Spotify and Google – links to the GEOSTORM episode are below. Or scroll down to listen on the Buzzsprout player:
