Disasteroid movie Greenland going straight to PVOD in the US

1st October 2020 by Sarah

UPDATE: UK RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED. More here

*** Check out these Greenland interviews with Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, Scott Glenn and Ric Roman Waugh ***

It’s already been moved more times than me weeping over a TikTok about kittens, and finally apocalyptic comet movie Greenland has given up the ghost and will be going straight to PVOD (premium video on demand) on Amazon Prime in December.

All the big movies trying to get a release before the end of 2020

That’s in the US, anyway – it’s already been out in actual cinemas in several countries, and much of Europe, where it has done pretty well. Currently its take stands at $17.6 million, with $4.6 million of that from France and even $21,000 in Iceland. (No word on a Greenland in Greenland opening just yet – and yes Greenland does have a cinema. Really, Gerry should jet in for a red carpet premiere there; they only had 13 COVID-19 cases in total.)

And there is still no word about the UK – when it’s coming out, and whether it will go straight to Amazon Prime here or get a proper cinema release.

Personally I prefer to see my apocalypses on the big screen rather than up close and personal – the more distance between us the better – though I probably would pay through the nose to watch this, if expensive home rental / purchase turns out to be the only option.

Come on, it’s Gerry versus a comet and if that comet has any sense it’ll be changing course as I type.

Watch the Greenland trailer here.
