225 Film Club: Promoting Female Excellence In Direction
Celebrating its seventh edition, the 225 Film Club is now a well-established fixture in the British filmmaker calendar.
Created in 2018 by filmmaker Rita Osei, the 225 Film Club screens excellent current narrative and documentary short films by female and non-binary filmmakers, introduces directors and producers, and supports women in film. For the fourth year running, and thanks to support from Melanie Hoyes, Director of BFI Inclusion, it takes place at the BFI.
Once again you can follow the 225 Film Club here in three parts: scroll down for the Official Longlist today, then come back on Monday 20 October for the Official Selection announcement. The Festival takes place in NFT3 at the BFI on Friday 5 December, at 6pm. We have three awards this year: Best Short Film UK, Best Short Film International, and the Audience Award, which will be announced on Friday 12 December. (As usual I will be posting mini reviews of all the shortlisted films.)
You can also read about the last four 225 Film Clubs – check out 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2019.
