225 Film Club: Promoting Female Excellence In Direction
Celebrating its sixth edition, the 225 Film Club is now a well-established fixture in the British filmmaker calendar.
Created in 2018 by filmmaker Rita Osei, the 225 Film Club screens excellent current narrative and documentary short films by female and non-binary filmmakers, introduces directors and producers, and supports women in film. For the third year running it takes place at the BFI, thanks to support from Melanie Hoyes and BFI Inclusion.
As in past years you can follow the 225 Film Club here in three parts: scroll down for the official long list today, then come back on Monday 4 November for the Official Selection announcement. The Festival takes place in the newly refurbished NFT3 at the BFI on Thursday 5 December 2024 from 6pm, with the BEST SHORT FILM announced on Monday 9 December 2024 (along with my usual mini reviews of all the shortlisted films).
You can also read about the last three 225 Film Clubs here, here and here.
