Stan And Ollie Trailer – The Show Must Go On!

19th September 2018 by Sarah Leave a Comment

*** Read my Stan & Ollie review ***

“I’ll miss us when we’re gone” says Oliver Hardy.

“So will you” replies Stan.

I very nearly got myself into a fine mess by starting with one of their most famous quotes until I googled and discovered it’s an infamous misquote and is actually “a nice mess”. (Don’t say you never learn anything on this website.)

Watching this trailer I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, so I did both. And now I feel guilty for not watching and appreciating Laurel & Hardy’s movies properly before.

John C Reilly stars as Oliver Hardy and Steve Coogan as Stan Laurel, and they certainly look the part(s).

The comedy duo are visiting Britain for a post-war tour, but times have moved on and some of the theatres are barely half-full.

Old slights and ill-health emerge as they head round the country, their conversations peppered with equal amounts of hurt and gags.

Stan And Ollie is directed by Jon S Baird and also stars Shirley Henderson as Ollie’s wife Lucille and Nina Arianda as Stan’s wife Ida.

It’s showing at the London Film Festival (LFF) in October, and is released in the UK on 11 January 2019. Hopefully I can see it at LFF, unless I slip on a banana skin, fall down some stairs or get hit in the face with a pie en route.
