Shake it til you make it with the new Poms trailer

“You’re one of us now! Except with higher boobies” says Sheryl to their young cheerleader choreographer.

Martha (Diane Keaton), newly arrived at Sun Springs Retirement Community, and new BFF Sheryl (Jacki Weaver), decide to set up a cheerleading squad with some of the other residents – complete with hidden talents and not so hidden aches, sprains, and replaced hips.

Oh and they’re going to enter a cheerleading competition. “The oldest category is 18+”, states their choreographer, unconvinced. “We’re 18+! Eighteen plus 50!” retorts Sheryl.

I should warn you that this trailer looks to be one that tells you the whole plot, unless there’s a twist ending involving aliens that they’re keeping from us until we’re sitting in that cinema seat.

It does look fun though, if very predictable, and it’s got a cracking cast: Diane Keaton, Jacki Weaver, Pam Grier, Rhea Perlman, Celia Weston and Alisha Boe.

Also it’s great to see a load of good-looking women on screen who actually make me feel young. (I’m *only* in my 40s, you know.)

Directed by Zara Hayes, Poms comes out in the US on 10 May. There’s no UK release date as yet (or indeed a name for Alisha Boe’s character! My current pet peeve is incomplete cast/character lists on IMDB when the trailer is released…).
