It’s available from Friday 7 August on Curzon Home Cinema and BFI Player.
Perfect 10 is the debut feature film from Eva Riley, whose short film Patriot competed for the Short Feature Palme D’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
Leigh, an aspiring teen gymnast who lives with her neglectful father, has her world is turned upside down with the arrival of the half-brother she never knew she had.
Screen International called the film “An intimate portrait… Scottish writer/director Eva Riley turns a plucky and compassionate coming-of-age tale into a memorable feature debut, all while unearthing a shining talent in fellow first-timer Frankie Box.”
While filming Perfect 10 Frankie Box, who plays Leigh, had her own trauma to deal with – when it was discovered that she had a stomach condition requiring a lifelong feeding tube. The operation to solve the problem is not covered by the NHS. Thankfully, over £17,000 was raised for the operation via crowdfunding, and Frankie is competing again in gymnastics (she’s a TeamGym British Bronze medalist). She has also taken on an acting agent.
Perfect 10 also stars Alfie Deegan and Sharlene Whyte.
