“Every successful choir is just a bad choir that didn’t give up.”
Based on a true story, Military Wives sees a group of women come together for friendship, something to keep them busy, and singing, while their partners are away serving in Afghanistan. Oh and beers.
This ticks all the feel-good boxes (apart from puppies and kittens in peril) so I’m sure there will be some ups and downs along the way. But they have the no-nonsense Kristin Scott Thomas in charge, which means failure is not an option.

Working with her is Sharon Horgan’s Lisa, more laid-back and focused on the fun than Scott Thomas’s Kate – who sounds like she should be a sergeant major herself, as they start practising and are then invited to perform at the Festival of Remembrance in the Royal Albert Hall.
Here’s the trailer – have a watch, while I sort out my eye, which appears to have something in it:
Military Wives is directed by The Full Monty’s Peter Cattaneo, and stars Winner Kristin Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan, My Ex-Next Door Neighbour™ Greg Wise and Jason Flemyng.
Rounding out the cast and playing the military wives are Emma Lowndes, Gaby French, Lara Rossi, Amy James-Kelly and India Ria Amarteifio. It’s in UK cinemas on 6 March.
