“No matter who you are, no matter what you do, the magic lives inside of you.”
The trailer for Netflix’s Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is here and it’s wonderful. I love the sumptuous colours, I love the songs, I love the cast, I love the alliteration… and this means we can start Christmas right now, right?
I don’t know why I put a question mark there, it was a statement not a request for approval.
The trailer really reminded me of The Greatest Showman even though the story – about an inventor and his stolen invention, Buddy the magical robot – is totally different.

Here’s the synopsis for Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (and scroll down for the trailer and some gorgeous images from the film and on set):
A musical adventure and a visual spectacle for the ages, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is a wholly fresh and spirited family holiday event. Set in the gloriously vibrant town of Cobbleton, the film follows legendary toymaker Jeronicus Jangle (Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker) whose fanciful inventions burst with whimsy and wonder.
But when his trusted apprentice (Emmy winner Keegan-Michael Key) steals his most prized creation, it’s up to his equally bright and inventive granddaughter (newcomer Madalen Mills) — and a long-forgotten invention— to heal old wounds and reawaken the magic within.
“Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey reminds us of the strength of family and the power of possibility,” says the publicity material, and we could all do with that right now. It’s out on 13 November on Netflix.
Written and directed by David E Talbert, the film stars Forest Whitaker, Madalen Mills, Keegan-Michael Key, Sharon Rose, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose, Ricky Martin, Kieron Dyer, Justin Cornwell, Lisa Davina Phillip and Hugh Bonneville.
The film features original songs by John Legend, Philip Lawrence and Davy Nathan. Listen to This Day now, performed by Usher and Diana Ledé.
