UPDATE: Read my Mary Poppins Returns review
…and it’s gorgeous. I was never a big Mary Poppins fan. As a child I was very cynical and literal, and when the actors appeared inside drawings I just thought to myself “but could that REALLY happen?”
Luckily I’m less of a misery-guts now, and this return of Mary P looks entirely wonderful and charming.
And guess who else is back – DICK VAN DYKE!
He’s 92 and still dancing (though I’ll admit I first thought it was Michael Douglas). I bet Tilda Swinton was raging.

Mary Poppins Returns is released in the US on 19 December and the UK on 21 December.
It’s directed by Rob Marshall and stars Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins, and Emily Mortimer, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, and Julie Walters.
