It’s all about fammlee in House of Gucci trailer

30th July 2021 by Sarah Leave a Comment

Looking like Den and Angie Watts on a posh skiiing holiday, Maurizio Gucci and his wife Patrizia move between the hottest hotspots and weird family members, always dressed to the nines.

“I don’t consider myself to be a particularly ethical person, but I am fair,” says Patrizia (Lady Gaga), later jailed for arranging to have her (by then) ex-husband shot dead.

Yes this is the first trailer for Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci and it’s a total hoot, overflowing with money, hair and cigarette smoke, and set to a Blondie soundtrack (Heart of Glass).

A welcome break from the Queen Vic

Maurizio was shot dead in 1995, after splitting from Patrizia. She was convicted and jailed for arranging the killing and spent nearly two decades in prison — with the official movie synopsis making House Of Gucci sound like a 1980s miniseries starring Stephanie Powers:

House of Gucci is inspired by the shocking true story of the family empire behind the Italian fashion house of Gucci. Spanning three decades of love, betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately murder, we see what a name means, what it’s worth, and how far a family will go for control.

Adam Driver stars as Den Watts, sorry Maurizio Gucci, with Gaga as his wife Patrizia Reggiani. Jared Leto co-stars as Paolo Gucci, Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci, Salma Hayel as Pina Auriemma, Jeremy Irons as Rodolfo Gucci (Maurizio’s dad), Mādālina Ghenea as Sophia Loren and Reeve Carney as Tom Ford.

House of Gucci is directed by Ridley Scott from a screenplay by Becky Johnston and Roberto Bentivegna based on the book The House Of Gucci: a Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed by Sara Gay Forden. The film hits UK cinemas on 26 November 2021.
