Never has a damp holiday trudging up mountains in the Lake District with my whining children trailing five paces behind sounded so welcome. Unlike the luxury holiday destination in the Infinity Pool, there’s no “violence, hedonism and untold horror” there, unless you include that one night a year when crazed sheep hit the Cumbrian pubs and everyone has to stay indoors, known as the Woolly Purge.
Written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg, Infinity Pool stars Alexander Skarsgard, Mia Goth, Cleopatra Coleman and Cronenberg himself. The beautiful beaches and even more beautiful new friends James and Em are holidaying with hide a terrifying and ugly secret, and I’m not talking budgie smugglers, or “DryRobe wankers“.

Here’s the synopsis (the trailer itself is much weirder):
While staying at an isolated island resort, James (Alexander Skarsgärd) and Em (Cleopatra Coleman) are enjoying a perfect vacation of pristine beaches, exceptional staff, and soaking up the sun. But guided by the seductive and mysterious Gabi (Mia Goth), they venture outside the resort grounds and find themselves in a culture filled with violence, hedonism, and untold horror. A tragic accident leaves them facing a zero tolerance policy for crime: either you’ll be executed, or, if you’re rich enough to afford it, you can watch yourself die instead.
Infinity Pool is out in US cinemas on 27 January 2023. Watch the trailer now, and scroll down for images and character posters from the film.
