A jaded hitman. The world’s fastest train. A stolen suitcase. A series of assassins out to get him. This looks a bit John Wick, a bit Snowpiercer, a bit Johnny English, a bit Thomas The Tank Engine. Okay not that last one.
I’m not that sympathetic. Come back when you’ve attempted to “mind the gap” after a four hour journey with two fractious children, various Trunkies and a giant toy gorilla before you moan to me about your “getting-off-at-the-right-station-stop” traumas, Bradley.
Still, I can confidently say this is one to add to my watch-list timetable, though I felt like I’d watched a lot of the film after viewing this trailer, and then had to watch it again to work out what was going on.
Here’s the synopsis:
In Bullet Train, Brad Pitt stars as Ladybug, an unlucky assassin determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs gone off the rails. Fate, however, may have other plans, as Ladybug’s latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe – all with connected, yet conflicting, objectives – on the world’s fastest train…and he’s got to figure out how to get off. The end of the line is only the beginning in a wild, non-stop thrill ride through modern-day Japan.
Bullet Train is directed by David Leitch (John Wick / Deadpool 2). And never mind pencils, I’d like to see Ladybug work his hitman magic by smothering an opponent with a flaccid British Rail ham sandwich (ask your nan).
