We’ve now got a trailer for this Joaquin Phoenix starrer, based on the book of the same name by cartoonist John Callahan, who took up drawing after an accident and was known for his black and macabre humour.
There’s very little to go on from this teaser (I’m calling it a teaser as there’s very little to go on). John is in a wheelchair after the accident in his early 20s. He’s got a drink problems (“I started drinking when I was 13. I liked it. A lot. And I never stopped.”) but so far we don’t know about his accident, or much about his drawing. (Though to be fair, the trailer is only 87 seconds long. I guess that’s what the film is for.)
The movie is showing at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19 2018, the Berlin International Film Festival in February, and has a slated US release in May.
Starring Joaquin Phoenix as John, with Rooney Mara, Jack Black and Jonah Hill, Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot is directed by Gus Van Sant.
