Promoting Female Excellence In Film Direction since 2018, we support our screening directors through facilitating introductions to successful producers and other seasoned industry members, a dynamic Writers’ Group, and our short film festival held at The National Film Theatre, BFI Southbank.
Celebrating its eighth edition, the 225 Film Club Festival is a well-established fixture in the British filmmaker calendar.
This year we expanded the festival, adding the Feature Film Log Line Competition, which creates new pathways for directors to connect with producers and advance their feature film projects.
Whittling the films down from the 225 Film Club Festival’s already-impressive longlists each year is never an easy task. Scroll down to check out this year’s shortlisted entries!
Kieran Bourne’s Now’s Your Time screens out of competition at the festival, it marks the first film screening with us from an under-represented male director who is working with phenomenal female producers. Produced by Oriane Pick’s Candid Broads Productions, Pick also stars and decided to take on the challenge three months postpartum, which meant learning some very long monologues while breastfeeding at 3am! Kieran’s debut feature Arthur & Clara, and the first feature film from Candid Broads Productions, will World Premiere at Austin Film Festival.
The 225 Film Club Festival was created in 2018 by director Rita Osei. The Festival takes place in NFT3 at the BFI Southbank on Thursday 3 December 2026 from 5pm. Our award winners are announced on Monday 7 December 2026 (along with my usual mini reviews of all the shortlisted films).
