*** UPDATE: THE WFCC WINNERS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED – CHECK THEM OUT BELOW ***
Is it better to give than to receive at this time of year? Well I’m certainly enjoying it.
While awards season, like Christmas, seems to come round earlier every year and last for longer, this year I’m particularly excited as I’m nominating and voting as a member of two critics organisations: the Women Film Critics Circle (WFCC) and the Online Association of Female Film Critics (OAFFC).
The 2019 nominations, winners and runners-up for the WFCC are out now – you can check them out below. Congratulations to them and a huge thank you to the women in these organisations collating nominations and votes.
Deciding who to nominate and vote for is a tricky task, but it’s also a nice problem to have. And at least this is positive voting, unlike this week’s General Election, where I am faced with going for a “least worst” option. If only there were as many trailblazing, truthful and witty political parties as movies…
Women Film Critics Circle
This is an international group, though nominated films do need to have been released in the US in 2019 to qualify. Founded in 2004, it was the first women critics association in the US. WFCC winners are announced Monday 9 December, 2019. Find out more about the WFCC.
