I haven’t seen the first trailer for Robert Eggers’ upcoming Werwulf, but going by this second one it looks like the film is going to be The Vvitch but furrier, and with more teeth.
Yes everyone’s favourite lycan lovely is about to hit the big screen again, which also reanimates the age old question (if you’re more pedant than peasant, anyway): Werwulf to rhyme with Herewulf, Werwulf to rhyme with Therewulf, or Werwulf to rhyme with Herwulf (though that last one is probably for Cilla Black only, to be fair).
Werwulf probably won’t help us answer that, partly because the dialogue is Middle English and partly because the characters’ lives look so grim in 14th century England I doubt they have time for luxury beliefs about pronunciation.
Wewulf is described as “a harrowing tale of devotion, damnation and the devil within”.
