“So, are you good guys or bad guys?”
“Depends on the century…”
*** My review is live now! ***
Andy, Charlize Theron’s character in the upcoming Netflix action flick The Old Guard, is probably the natural extension to the kind of almost superhuman assassins and mercenaries we’ve been given recently; though unlike Wick, Andy can truly claim to be both myth and legend, with her full name being Andromache of Scythia.
The Old Guard is based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Greg Rucka and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, and launches worldwide on Netflix on 10 July 2020. Here’s the synopsis:
Led by a warrior named Andy (Charlize Theron), a covert group of tight-knit mercenaries with a mysterious inability to die have fought to protect the mortal world for centuries. But when the team is recruited to take on an emergency mission and their extraordinary abilities are suddenly exposed, it’s up to Andy and Nile (Kiki Layne), the newest soldier to join their ranks, to help the group eliminate the threat of those who seek to replicate and monetize their power by any means necessary.
The Old Guard also stars Kiki Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Harry Melling, Van Veronica Ngo, Matthias Schoenaerts and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
