It looks like comets and zombies to me, though these are more human shells with some other entirely new lifeforms created in them (or from them?) Still Army Of The Dead had robot zombies so I think these ones count as members of the undead. Every lifeform evolves…
Here’s the synopsis:
Disaster unfolds when a meteor strikes a small town, turning the environment uninhabitable and killing everything in the surrounding area. Exobiologist Lauren Stone is called to find answers to the unearthly event. As she begins to uncover the truth, imminent danger awakens and it becomes a race against time to save mankind.
By the way, an exobiologist is concerned with the study of alien lifeforms and if/where they might exist.
