A trailer for Carey Mulligan-starrer Promising Young Woman has been released, and it looks like the kind of film that will have women cheering at the screen.
A revenge comedy from writer-director Emerald Fennell, Mulligan stars as Cassie, who is regularly seen collapsed drunk in nightclubs and bars at the end of the night.
And every night a “concerned” man decides to help her back to his place, only for Cassie to perk up considerably and start asking them very difficult questions.
Here’s the synopsis:
“From visionary director Emerald Fennell (Killing Eve) comes a delicious new take on revenge. Everyone said Cassie (Carey Mulligan) was a promising young woman… until a mysterious event abruptly derailed her future. But nothing in Cassie’s life is what it appears to be: she’s wickedly smart, tantalizingly cunning, and she’s living a secret double life by night. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs of the past in this thrilling and wildly entertaining story.”
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Laverne Cox, Bo Burnham, Alison Brie, Connie Britton, Jennifer Cooldige, Molly Shannon and Clancy Brown. The film is out in the USA on 17 April 2020 but there’s no word of a UK release yet.
