A film based on a Disneyland ride, this looks like a cross between Indiana Jones and Anaconda with a dash of Tomb Raider reboot thrown in for good measure.
Jungle Cruise stars Emily Blunt as explorer Lily Houghton, searching for a mythical tree that can cure every disease, and Dwayne Johnson as “charismatic riverboat captain” Frank (is there any other kind?)
It looks like bouncy, adventure pulp B-movie fun – there’s even a submarine, in the Amazon – though going from this trailer, it doesn’t look particularly exciting.
Still, with its animals, search for a mythical cure and “charismatic riverboat captain” maybe it’ll turn out to be the top-notch Dolittle-esque movie we should have got last month? We can but hope that there’s a farting dragon in it.
