Chesney Hawkes is back and this time he’s Thor! Sorry, I got distracted by the tagline on the new (and gorgeous) Love And Thunder poster, below.
We may not get Chesney warbling over this teaser but we do get Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns N’ Roses, which is almost as perfect a choice for ’80s kids like me. And anyway there’s another Thor — as he says he’s hanging up superheroing and going to find himself — with Jane Foster appearing at the end as The Mighty Thor.
The teaser is below, and provides long-awaited clues to what’s in store for the God of Thunder (I didn’t write that, I don’t know anything about superhero movies). Here’s some more I didn’t write:
The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
Yes, the new villain is a galactic killer named Gorr The God Butcher. Can’t wait to see him / don’t think I’d accept a sausage sandwich from him.

The film is directed by Taika Waititi and comes out on 8 July, 2022.
