“From dad bod to god bod.”
The new trailer just dropped from Mount Olympus itself, so I think we can blame Zeus, played by Russell Crowe (and thank you Zeus for that One Perfect Shot).
In the first trailer we didn’t see Gorr but we do now, and he’s a very recognisable Christian Bale, despite Gorr looking like a cross between Voldemort and the ugly Ephors in 300. We also found out from the teaser that there’s another Thor in town. With two mighty Thors, I think we need to keep them both and let them repeatedly save the world together like a divine version of Hart to Hart: “This is my boss – Mr Thor. He’s quite a guy. This is Mrs Thor – she’s gorgeous. She’s one lady who knows how to take care of herself.” (Who will be Max though?)
Here’s the synopsis (for Thor: Love & Thunder, not for Thor to Thor):
The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a search for self-discovery. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. (Scroll down for the trailer)
The new poster:
Thor is directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum. The film opens in cinemas on 8 July 2022.
