Picturehouse Cinemas re-opening on 10 July with… Proxima

19th June 2020 by Sarah

As a title it hardly screams social distancing so make sure you follow all Picturehouse’s new rules when you get there. Or, you know, make your own tougher arrangements.

I’m going to keep posting this picture until I get bored which will be never

I’m kidding, I’m saving the full-length body condom for TENET. You can find out more about the measures Picturehouse are putting in place here and read their FAQs here. Not all locations will necessarily be opening on the 10th.

Proxima has had some terrific reviews and seems to fit into that “thoughtful movie about space” space. It stars Eva Green as Sarah, a French astronaut training for a year long space mission called Proxima. As the launch looms nearer, her relationship with her young daughter feels the strain.

Eva Green and Matt Dillon

It is apparently a “gripping, emotional and life-affirming journey”, words I could also apply to my attempts at helping my 8 year old with Year 3 fractions over the past three months (no I won’t tire of that joke either, sorry).

I put the Proxima trailer up back in March (remember then?) – you can check it out along with a fuller synopsis here.

See you at the cinema! (I’ll be the one ordering my children to sit several seats away from me, though to be fair I do that anyway.)
