Created from entirely archival footage, some previously unreleased, about the Apollo 11 mission to land on the moon – led by commander Neil Armstrong and pilots Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins.
I love space – Ad Astra is my favourite film – but this film didn’t really hit the right buttons for me.
Apollo 11 is really well made. My mum loved it and thought I would but it wasn’t really my thing. I actually got a bit mixed up and thought it was going to be First Man which I’ve heard about and want to see.

I like documentaries if they have narration but Apollo 11 doesn’t have that. It made me realise I prefer films about space with actors playing the astronauts.
Apollo 11 is made up of clips from the time of the moon landings so you see them preparing and on the day. Then everything goes quite quickly after that. I thought it was a bit too much footage about preparations.
I wasn’t scared for the astronauts watching it, as we know they got back safely.
I did like seeing inside the command module. And all the technology from the 1960s made me think about how powerful computers are now.

Watching everyone watching the rocket take off was quite impressive though we’ve seen the launch before.
Buzz Aldrin has always been my favourite astronaut from the men on the mission. Apollo 11 did make me think about how brave the men were especially as there was a chance the lunar module wouldn’t have fired as they tried to get off the surface of the moon.

I’m not sure if other kids my age would enjoy Apollo 11. It’s a good film about the moon landings. Maybe people who don’t believe the moon landings happened will change their minds if they watch it!
But I’m going to watch First Man now!
