Naomi Ackie is Whitney Houston in the upcoming movie I Wanna Dance With Somebody, which promises to take audiences on an emotional, energetic journey through Houston’s career and music.
The biopic is “from the writer of Bohemian Rhapsody”, a statement currently striking fear into the cinephiles of Film Twitter.
The film opens exclusively in cinemas on 23 December 2022, which means the two nights before Christmas will be filled with middle-aged drunk people who can’t sing a note* warbling Saving All My Love For You as they stagger home from post-movie festive drinks.
*Me.
I Wanna Dance With Somebody is directed by Kasi Lemmons, from a screenplay by Academy Award® nominee Anthony McCarten. Co-starring with Ackie are Stanley Tucci, Ashton Sanders, Tamara Tunie, Nafessa Williams and Clarke Peters.
I love this poster, and as soon as I saw it I wanted to immediately change into that iconic ’80s staple of blue jeans, black leather jacket and white vest. It won’t take me long as I’m currently wearing that un-iconic mum staple of blue jeans, black leather jacket and stripy breton top. (Trust me, wearing that get-up is something you think will never happen to you but will, like hitting 45 and suddenly ordering soup in restaurants.)
